My favorite band may not be life changing for you, or have the best skill at playing their instruments, or the most talent, or look the best, but there’s a reason they’re my favorite. There is nothing that brightens my day more than hearing the words they sing, or the notes they produce. They are a group of people, a group of friends, that came together at one point in their lives to do nothing but what they love. You can at least respect that. But if you’re going to try and tell me that they suck, or that I don’t really love them, or that I should listen to “better” music, you must be seeking death. Because this band has changed my life, and influenced me for the better. They make me happy, they make me want to be a better person. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Hell, I might not be here today. Who knows? Not me, and I certainly don’t want to. So yes, I’m willing to spend lots of money on their merchandise, because not only does it let me wear my support with pride, it helps them continue to make music and do what they love. Yes, I will drive to all ends of the earth to see them, if only for thirty minutes, because it connects me to them even more. It gives their music life that only someone that has seen them live can understand. Yes, I can listen to their songs over and over, because I enjoy having this little smile creep across my face for no reason other than sheer joy. And yes, I love them and will talk about them all the time, because they mean more to me than you may ever experience in your life. You don’t have to like me, or my favorite band, but you have to accept that I love them, and nothing you can do will change that.
